Learning from Other Tortilla Makers

This week Chris and I had the chance to visit Taco Heart and meet the owner, Nano, who was so generous with his time and advice. He even introduced us to Hi-Lo Taco and its owner, Jeff, who was just as welcoming and supportive.

We got to see their tortilla machines in action, ask a ton of questions, and confirm that the processes I’ve been following by hand are very much in line with what they’re doing at scale. Even though their businesses look different — Taco Heart focusing on breakfast tacos only, and Hi-Lo on lunch, dinner, and cocktails — the machines they’re using will work perfectly in my context too.

Of course, we also ate a ton of fresh tortillas hot off the presses — and every single one was delicious. That’s exactly why I’m so excited to bring more fresh, handmade tortillas into your homes.

Huge thanks to Nano and Jeff for the encouragement and knowledge sharing! If you’re in Philly, definitely check them out: @tacoheartphilly + @hilotacoco.

With love (and tortillas for all),

Rebecca
